The Cedar Rapids Downtown District has announced the Downtown Farmers’ Markets are back. Location of the market will include Green Square Park and surrounding areas. We have received confirmation from Police, Fire, Health Inspectors, and City officials that this location has been declared a safe and appropriate space. This is where the remaining downtown markets will take place (August 16, September 6, October 4). Parking ramps are clean, available, and will be free to market patrons. Markets will include main stage entertainment, interactive family activities, and cooking demonstrations. The return of this market is one more piece to the Rebuild Downtown campaign-declaring the commitment so many businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout the community have expressed in rebuilding a downtown better than ever. If you are a part of the downtown farmers markets and have any questions you can contact our Events Director Jill Wilkins at 398-0449. CEDAR RAPIDS, July 2008 - The horrific flooding that has occurred recently in Iowa has devastated lives and destroyed property. And now, relief funds are drying up.
The Highland Mint, perhaps best known for producing the coin that has been flipped immediately prior to the Super Bowl for each of the past 17 years, wants to help. The Melbourne, Florida-based company has announced the creation of a fully-licensed Cedar Rapids Kernels "Team Pride" Photo Plaque, and has committed to donating 50 percent of its profits ($12.50 per Photo Plaque sold) from the sales of this limited-edition collectible to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is currently focused on aiding Midwest flood victims.
"By purchasing the Cedar Rapids Kernels 'Team Pride' Photo Plaque, the team's fans will not only be acquiring a sharp looking collectible that they can display with pride on a wall at home or the office, but they will also be contributing to a fund that is helping people take back control of their uprooted lives as a result of the disasters that have struck the Cedar Rapids area recently," said Michael Kott, CEO of The Highland Mint. "Our goal is to sell out this Photo Plaque and raise over $60,000 for the American Red Cross."
Double-matted in team colors and protected underneath a glass panel, the Cedar Rapids Kernels "Team Pride" Photo Plaque features a creative and exclusive 8-inch by 10-inch Cedar Rapids Kernels logo design, a solid bronze medallion featuring a color Kernels team logo embedded in the center, and an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The Photo Plaque is presented in a 13-inch by 16-inch black frame that comes ready to hang when you receive it. Limited to 5,000 pieces, each Kernels Photo Plaque is priced at only $49.95.
The Cedar Rapids Kernels "Team Pride" Photo Plaque is available via a special toll-free telephone number (1-888-560-2727) or by visiting www.SBFLIP.com.
Note: The American Red Cross name is used with its permission, which in no way constitutes an endorsement, express or implied, of this event. |
